Duck Duck Goose

Ok, so here are 2 photos (actually I added a third of a close-up of a Canadian Goose I took): the first is the mystery duck. The second and third are the Canadian Goose. I don’t take many photos of them because they are EVERYWHERE here. Also they are usually flying really high in the air. I remember when they were not (not flying high, not here in Ohio). Weird how things like that happen. Anyway, the goose photo stinks, but is for ID purposes. Notice the neck length and size vs the big body. The ducks (1st photo) are small and were making a kind of whistling sound and flying around fast and swirl-y. Kind of like sea birds in a way. They are smaller than a mallard. Maybe crow sized? They might even go underwater to fish like loons do, as I have seen little duck/birds doing that on Alum Creek, but they were far away, it was last summer and it felt like looking at the Loch-Ness Monster, but I digress.  You can click on the photos for a closer view. 😉 Let me know if you know what the ducks are.

I Have a Duck Question

small and fast

Can anyone tell what kind of ducks these are? Tonight I had my back turned to the water for a moment and heard this weird sound, almost like a buzzing (thinking, “”Huh? It is way too cold for a bee or something…”) when I turned and it was a group of ducks flying kind of close to me. They were small, fast, and look black and white. Their beak looks dark as well. I have never seen them before, and would love to know what they are. They kept circling; I think they wanted to land where I was standing with the Juni, the dog. Thank you in advance for your help!
