Weekly Photo Challenge: Growth

Blessed are they who see beautiful things in humble places where other people see nothing.
~Camille Pissarro

This is from a series of photos I took in 2008 after we were without power for 9 days. Hurricane Ike came in off the east coast, and sent very high winds though our town. Lots of big trees came down. Luckily the weather was perfect after the storm passed, so it was like camping at home with hot water. The bad part was that we lost all our food. I took photos of some of the food being thrown out because it was magnificent! The first one was a cherry/mustard combo in my sink. This is a moldy piece of cornbread. This summer we lost power again from the crazy storms cropping up from the hot unstable weather. Luckily this time our power returned in less than 24 hours. But with that good luck no unusual photo opportunities blessed us either. 😉
